Get Connected

take-the-dare-poster.jpgGetting “connected” at Calvary in Savannah begins with Grand Slam Discipleship – 4 progressive classes built on the theme of Take the D.A.R.E. and uses a baseball diamond to illustrate the progression of your spiritual journey through the process. D.A.R.E. is an acrostic that stands for our four classes- Discovery, Application, Recognition and Employment. Each class is designed around our 5 purposes and will help members assimilate these purposes into their lives. On various Sunday mornings throughout the year, these classes give members tools and knowledge to know, grow, serve, share and worship Jesus Christ in their lives every day. The classes meet on Sunday from 8:30 AM – 10:00 AM. Childcare is provided. We invite you to “Take the D.A.R.E.” in your walk with Christ and become a Grand Slam Disciple as you complete all of the available classes. Because they build on one another, the classes must be taken in order.

Discovery 101

In Discovery 101, you’ll learn the foundations of the Christian faith, some basic information about Calvary in Savannah and our denomination, along with a little history of our church. You’ll also discover why our church exists, how we go about doing ministry and how you can become a valuable part of that ministry. Discovery 101 is a requirement for membership in our church.

Application 201
In Application 201, we’ll explore some helpful habits for every Christian to develop and practice such as Bible study, prayer and connecting with other members through Bible study groups. Discovery 101 is a prerequisite for this class.

Recognition 301

In Recognition 301, you’ll learn about your personal S.H.A.P.E. for ministry – the talents, spiritual gifts and abilities God gave you, and how you can use them in a practical way. You’ll also get an overview of the many ministry opportunities available at our church and see ways you can “plug in” to make a difference. Application 201 and a completed Spiritual Gifts Inventory are prerequisites for this class.

Employment 401

In Employment 401, you’ll find out the difference between having a job and having a ministry at Calvary in Savannah. Standards of excellence, ministry integrity, and ministry priority are discussed. You’ll also learn how to begin a new ministry that God may have been leading you to start.
