Ministries

Purpose

The purpose of the Senior Adult Ministry is to offer opportunities for spiritual development, learning opportunities, socialization, recreation, and service opportunities for persons age 55 and above in Calvary in Savannah and community. The programs and activities of this ministry shall in no way conflict with the purpose, policies and programs of Calvary in Savannah. The senior adult ministry functions under the direction of the Senior Pastor, Pastor to Senior Adults, with recommendations from the Senior Adult Council.

For the debt of gratitude owed to Senior Adults it is our purpose and desire to present creative ways of engaging and involving this age group into every aspect of the church life. Jesus is our model of a balanced person who grew spiritually, mentally, relationally and physically. All of life is to be dedicated to God and used to bring Him glory. Senior Adults continue to be growing individuals with a wide range of interests and abilities. A balanced program for seniors is achieved with broad-based offerings that reflect their diversity in ages, lifestyles and needs.

Hospital & Shut-In
Serve as outreach person to minister to families of hospital patients that are unchurched or from out of town

Helping Hands
To assist Senior Adult church members with small tasks that are difficult to perform (i.e. changing light bulbs, replacing batteries, repairing door locks). The chairman of this committee will select willing individuals within the congregation that have expertise in various fields (plumbing, electrical, etc) to assist in specific needs. These tasks are to be minimal and will be undertaken at the discretion of the committee chairman.

Publications
Produce an annual publication that will provide information concerning the purpose and activities of the Senior Adult Ministry. This publication will be sent to all Senior Adults in the church and given to senior adult visitors.

Produce a quarterly publication that will provide information to all Senior Adults concerning what Senior Adults are doing and happenings of interest in our church, as well as upcoming events.

Supply the church office with input for the Senior Adult section of the church Web Site.

At Large Members
-Assist all chairpersons in their areas.
-Minister to the Senior Adults of our church.
-Represent the other Senior Adults during the council meetings, being their voice.
