Music and Worship

There are numerous references to worship in the Scriptures. Did you know there are 363 references in the Old Testament and 99 in the New Testament that speak directly to the WORSHIP in Scripture? In fact, there are 19 recorded times that Jesus referenced this topic in the Gospels as well as 15 instances in the Book of Revelation alone. That is almost 500 times that God speaks to us through his WORD about worshiping. Apparently God must view WORSHIP as important for us.

The worshipers at Calvary in Savannah take this emphasis to heart. We are devoting ourselves to the promoting, practicing, and performing true worship to God as described by Jesus in John 4, “…true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth…”

True worship of God at Calvary in Savannah is comprised of many facets to aid these worshipers “…of the kind the of worshipers the Father seeks.” We are providing training, development, and outlets for worship through the many aspects of the worship arts.

We want to develop people, whose heart and passion is to worship God in the fashion that He desires. It is our intent to provide worship experiences that will foster “atmospheric evangelism” in which the corporate gathering of people celebrate the God of Heaven and earth in such a way as is immediately viewed as real to each person. Every person is thus accountable for the experience they have with the Father.

Calvary is a place where every person can find a warm and welcome place to “Celebrate Jesus.” I invite you to join this army of worshipers who want to take a city for Christ and whose passion is praising God in the great assembly.

Worship Ministries include the Choir, the Orchestra, Youth Music, Children’s Music, and Worship Arts. CiS Singers (choir) is a non-auditioned adult choral group that is the core of the worship celebration each week. They rehearse and lead in worship on a weekly basis throughout the year and during special events.

The CiS Orchestra is a skilled group of intermediate to advanced instrumentalists who accompany the singing of both the choir and the congregation during worship.

The Youth Music Ministry is age-graded from 6th grade through high school geared toward the sounds of today and focuses on small groups and vocal performance in worship.

The Children’s Music Ministry is age-graded (4 years through 5th grade) that uses contemporary and traditional music to teach Biblical Truth in a “fun” setting by using musical concepts and fundamentals.

The Worship Arts Ministry involves other areas of creative arts (such as drama, ensembles, and soloists) to further enhance the worship experience of each person who attends.
